Check in on your phone
For pupils who check in on their own phone instead of at the whiteboard.
Most classes check in on the whiteboard. If your teacher says you can use your own phone, this is how.
The first time
- Open tapin.ie/check-in on your phone.
- Type in your school code. Your teacher will give you this. You only have to do this once on your phone.
- Pick your class.
- Find your name and tap it.
Every morning after that
- Open the page. It says Good morning.
- It asks "How did you get to school today?"
- Tap how you travelled. That is it.
You will see a message back, like "Lovely journey!" or "Wheels turning!"
If you tap the wrong one
Tap again and pick the right one. You can change it any time up to 23:59 that day.
What you can see
Three tabs along the top:
- Today — how you travelled, and how much CO₂ you saved compared with being driven.
- Streak — how many days in a row you have travelled actively.
- Class — how your whole class is doing so far this morning.
Every active day also moves you further along your journey up the west coast.
Things worth knowing
- Nobody sees how you travelled. Your teacher and your council only see numbers for the whole class.
- You do not have an account and you do not need a password.
- If your phone forgets the school code, just type it in again.
